Dear Birthparent,

As you are reading this letter, we know how important the decision is you are making.  Unlike most adoptive parents, we know, because we have been right where you are…expecting a child and knowing that we couldn’t raise her and needing to find her the best parents possible.  Fifteen years later, I (Samantha) am writing this letter to you.  Here’s our story…

My husband, Aaron, and I started dating in high school.  My senior year I became pregnant.  Knowing neither of us could give our child the life we wanted for her, we turned to Bethany.  We looked through profiles similar to this one until God led us to the perfect family who looked much like we do now, a mom, dad, and son.

In March of 2002, I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl.  She was precious, and we soaked up every bit of time we had in the hospital with her.  I clung to the list of reasons we were choosing adoption, because without those reminders, I might have changed my mind.  But, we gave a man and woman the greatest gift, the chance to be parents again as I placed her in their arms.  That day was the hardest day of our lives, but with each passing year, we get to see through pictures and letters just how much we made the right decision.  Who knew that 15 years later we’d come full circle?!

As I started college, Aaron and I continued to date and grow closer as a couple.  Finally, after 5 years of dating, on April 2, 2005, Aaron proposed!  Of course, I said “yes.”  Then, in June of 2006, we exchanged vows.  This past year we celebrated a decade of marriage by renewing our vows with our close family and friends.  I honestly love him more each day.

After marrying in 2006, we lived in an apartment.  After 2 years, I was ready for a house.  We finally found one we loved in the spring of 2009.  It’s still the house we live in today.  We just finished adding an office onto the back so we’d have another guestroom for when family comes since we hope to fill the old guestroom with our new son or daughter!  I love decorating our home and getting to design the new office from scratch was so much fun!  The house is almost 2000 sq. ft. with 4 bedrooms and 2.5 baths.  We live in a quiet neighborhood where Eason enjoys getting to play with our neighbors, especially on their trampoline.

In 2010, we found ourselves ready to start a family and quickly became pregnant with our son, Eason, who was born in January of 2011.  Becoming a parent was and is amazing.  From placing our daughter through adoption, we had a greater understanding for just how precious this new life was.  It’s an honor to be his parents.  He challenges me daily but has also helped me have a greater understanding for God’s love as our Heavenly Father.

Eason is now 6 years old and finishing up kindergarten.  He loves to read, play soccer, build Legos, and play superheroes.  He also enjoys weekly family nights where we go out to eat, bowl, watch a movie, or go fishing.

Aaron is almost 35.  He is exceedingly selfless, always putting other’s needs above his own.  He’s a hard worker who loves to provide for his family.  He is extremely athletic and known for his speed.  He loves to play soccer, softball, and basketball.  He has an amazing sense of humor that always keeps me laughing and endears him to others.  Aaron is a computer programmer analyst who enjoys building websites on the side.  He loves video games and enjoys fishing when he gets a chance.

I’m 32 and currently a stay at home mom after being the Children’s Minister at our local church for the past 9 years.  I love spending time with Eason whether it’s playing a board game or helping him with his homework.  In my spare time, I love to crochet, scrapbook, apply Jamberry nail wraps, read books, and spend time with friends and family.  I especially enjoy going to pottery with my best friends once a week.  I love the outdoors, photography, and fishing.

Other important aspects of our family life…we love serving at our church and in our community.  Family is extremely important to us.  We love to travel, play board games, and are big University of Kentucky fans!

Aaron and I feel that we are coming full circle.  We are so excited to bring another child into our family and to give a child a home as a family did for our daughter when we were not able to.  It seems serendipitous, but we know it has all been a part of God’s plan!

We thank you for taking the time to read this letter.  We are praying for you as you are going through this journey.  May God bring you peace and comfort.

God bless,
Aaron, Samantha, and Eason
